FREAKS OF NATURE Cover Reveal and Giveaway

FREAKS OF NATURE Cover Reveal and Giveaway

Book Information:
Paperback, Spencer Hill Press
Expected publication: May 5, 2015

Book Blurb:
The global Ebola-X pandemic of 2022 lasted five months, two weeks and six days before a cure could be found. In its wake, it left a generation of psionic freaks who can turn a single thought into a weapon… or worse.
Fifteen-year-old Devon McWilliams is one of those freaks, but instead of some awesome ability like telepathy or telekinesis, he talks to plants. Yes, plants. In other words, Devon rates a big fat zero on the scale of kick-ass psychic abilities. But when Devon escapes from his psionic detainment facility, the United States Military intercepts him before he can rendezvous with the Psionic Underground Network. Regaining consciousness, Devon finds himself securely fastened to his seat aboard a military airship headed to Washington DC, where he will either be incarcerated for life or killed.
However, there are six other psions aboard this one-way flight to doom… and one of them, a telepath named Bai Lee, claims to have the means to escape, but they have to convince her, one by one, that they’re worthy of freedom. This is not good news for Plant Boy. The last thing he wants is to relive his nightmare escape from the psi-facility that left his best friend dead, especially since he’s made the acquaintance of the lovely, blonde healer, Alya du Roumanie, sitting beside him. Worse than that, he wouldn’t be able to bear the look in her eyes if she ever found outhow truly pathetic a psion he really is.
They say there are no keeping secrets from a hell-bent telepath, but Devon McWilliams is determined to do just that, risking everything not to be left behind.

Wendy Brotherlin is a screenwriter, music enthusiast and all around geek-goddess. She earned a Masters in Screenwriting at the University of Southern California and went on to write for children’s television including Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Review: Catacombs by Devon Ashley

Catacombs by Devon Ashley
Published Date: August 2014
Publisher: Self
Genre: New Adult

The Story: No one will hear her scream.

More than five years have passed since Emily was accidentally infected with the blood of a pure vampire. Now a member of this elite secret organization, it’s time for her to run her trials and determine her place within the hierarchy. After an awkward evening with her leader Gaius, she wants nothing more than to get back to teaching at the Warrior school for demon hunters. But before she even has the chance to leave, she, Noel and Abby are all summoned to deal with the organization’s dirty little secret. Something deadly has been trapped within the catacombs beneath their headquarters for centuries, waiting for the day to wreak vengeance. That day has finally come – and the horror of what lies beneath may destroy them all.

My Review:  Sigh, I can't believe all that happened in Catacombs, and the series still isn't done!!!  Emily get's to find out where she's at in the order of the vampires (the highest ranking one is the leader, which is currently Gaius).  But she already has a head up on the others because it was Abby's blood that turned her and not the same source they use for every other vampire that's turned.

But that isn't all!!  We find out more about Emily, and she's not all she seems to be. Make that Abby, Noel AND Gaius!  I loved hearing how the twins Abby had are doing, and their story I'm betting will play out more in the next book!!  Devon Ashley hasn't let her readers down!  If you've started The Immortal Archives, you need to read Catacombs ASAP!

Review: Vision by Lisa Amowitz

Vision by Lisa Amowitz
Published Date: September 2014
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Genre: YA

The Story: The light is darker than you think…

High school student Bobby Pendell already has his hands full—he works almost every night to support his disabled-vet father and gifted little brother. Then he meets the beautiful new girl in town, who just happens to be his boss’s daughter. Bobby has rules about that kind of thing. Nothing matters more than keeping his job.

When Bobby starts to get blinding migraines that come with scary, violent hallucinations, his livelihood is on the line. Soon, he must face the stunning possibility that the visions of murder are actually real. With his world going dark, Bobby is set on the trail of the serial killer terrorizing his small town. With everyone else convinced he’s the prime suspect, Bobby realizes that he, or the girl he loves, might be killer's next victim.

My Review:  The start of the book was hard for me to really get going.  BUT after the first two chapters, it really grabbed me.  This was a MUCH different story than anything I've read before.  Sort of like CSI meets high school.  Lisa wrote a very neat crime story for YA.  I mean, there is gore, don't get me wrong, but this is something I would let my teens and maybe preteens read!  It gave me the shivers, but that may be because I was reading it at night!!

About Lisa:
Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot.

Lisa has been a professor of graphic design at  Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and cajoling students for nearly eighteen years. She started writing eight years ago because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children.
BREAKING GLASS which was released July 9, 2013 from Spencer Hill Press, is her first published work. VISION, the first of the Finder series will be released in 2014 along with an unnamed sequel in the following year. LIFE AND BETH will also be released in the near future. So stay tuned because Lisa is very hyper and has to create stuff to stay alive.
