About the Author:
# 1 New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout Lives in West Virginia.

All the rumors you heard about her state aren’t true.

Well, mostly. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.

She is the author of the Covenant Series (Spencer Hill Press), the Lux Series (Entangled Teen), Don't Look Back (Disney/Hyperion) and a yet untitled novel (Disney/Hyperion), and new YA paranormal series with Harlequin Teen.

Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You. Under her pen name, she is published with Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.

Questions for the Author and Characters:

For JLA – After writing the series from Alex’s POV, what challenges did you face writing from Aiden’s POV in Elixir? It was hard to get into Aiden’s head because he was more of a challenge to write than I anticipated.
For Alex – Um…seriously girl, if I ever hear “My Seth” again, I may puke. Is there anything about that time that you want to remember? No. Well, except Aiden because he believed in me.
For Aiden – Where does your strength come from? Standing up to Alex and even the Gods, you were a rock during Elixir. How did you do it? It was all for Alex. I love her and I wasn’t giving up.
For Seth – During the time where you didn’t know where Alex was, what were you doing to find her? Everything. I was gonna find her.

Past Interviews:
Jennifer L Armentrout - from August 2011

Aiden and Seth - from December 2011
Spencer Hill Press is giving away a $200 gift card to Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Book Depository or any indie bookstore of the winner's choice to not only stock up on amazing books, but to perhaps buy a Nook HD or Kindle Fire.

GIVEAWAY: The Child Returns (audiobook) by Kristen Taber

It's Monday... again. And what better way to start a week than with a giveaway. To celebrate Aerenden: The Child Returns being released on audiobook, we are having a giveaway for one copy of the audiobook through

I reviewed this book back in March 2013. You can read my review HERE. I have not yet had the chance to listen to this book on audio, so consider yourselves lucky for this chance to win.

As this is a self-published, independently released book, many of you may not have heard too much about it. I am promoting it every chance I get, as it is amazingly written. I knew it would be good, just from the word of mouth I have heard, but I was not prepared to be just so blown away. Taber's writing is amazing, and she is a fantastic story teller.

About the book:

Aerenden: The Child Returns (book 1)
by Kristen Taber
published May 21, 2012
by Sean Tigh Press
Paperback: 382 pages

Goodreads: Seventeen-year-old Meaghan has no idea her perfect life has been a lie — until she witnesses her parents’ brutal murders at the hands of red-eyed creatures.

After nearly sharing their fate, she escapes with her best friend, Nick, who tells her the creatures are called Mardróch. They come from another world, and so does she. Now that the Mardróch have found her, she must return to her homeland of Ærenden or face death.

Left with little choice, she follows Nick into a strange world both similar to Earth and drastically different. Vines have the ability to attack. Monkeys freeze their victims with a glare. Men create bombs from thin air. Even Meaghan’s newly discovered empath power turns into a danger she cannot control.

But control becomes the least of her worries once the Mardróch begin targeting her. When Nick confesses he knows the reason they want her, she learns the truth behind the kingdom's fifteen-year civil war — a long-buried secret that could cost Meaghan her life.

About the author: Born in Bangor, Maine, Kristen Taber spent her childhood at the feet of an Irish storytelling grandfather, learning to blend fact with fiction, and imagination with reality. She lived within the realm of the tales that captivated her, breathing life into characters and crafting stories even before she could read.

Those stories have since turned into over a hundred poems, several short tales, and five manuscripts in both the Young Adult and Adult genres.  Currently, Ms. Taber is completing the five-part Ærenden series from her home office in the suburbs of Washington D.C.

Review: Undertow by Leigh T Moore

Undertow by Leigh T Moore
Published Date: July 2013
Publisher: Self
Genre: YA

The Story: Falling in love will pull you under...

Bill Kyser has a plan to take the sandy farms of his hometown and turn them into a world-class tourist destination--and become a billionaire in the process.

Alexandra "Lexy" LaSalle has a plan to change her life by becoming a world-famous artist.

Meg Weaver has a plan to hold onto Bill no matter what she has to do.

Three friends, three dreams.
One fatal decision will change all their lives forever.

In Dragonfly, Bill Kyser gave Anna the three journals that held the story behind the powerful developer's seclusion and the damaged lives of his family members.

Anna hoped to find a way for Julian to know the truth, but as she digs deeper into the tragic events of the past, she realizes silence could be the only option.

Now she's in an alliance with the man she formerly feared. And if Julian finds out what she knows, she could lose for good the boy she's starting to love.

My Review: I enjoyed Undertow as much as Dragonfly.  In Undertow we're given insight into why Bill and Lexy did what they did.  There's also an earth shattering news that Anna discovers and has to hide from the one she's fallen in love with.

This book is well written, and a real nice read too!  It can get a little confusing, as you're reading the journals alongside Anna, but it's really awesome too!

From Gods by Mary Ting

From Gods
Author Mary Ting
Release Date: 10/14/13
Young Adult

Did you just see a flash of lightning across the sky on a clear sunny day? It’s not from Mother Nature. It is most likely from Mason Grand, swoon-worthy demigod, one of Zeus’s descendants.

Skylar Rome is supposed to be having the best summer ever before she heads off to college.  Little did she know, her whole life was about to change while visiting her cousin. Nearly drowning at the beach due to unknown forces, one of the Grand brothers she’d just met, Mason, saves her life. Cool, collected, mysterious, and dangerously good-looking, Skylar is drawn to him from the start. Though she knows he is the type of guy good girls stayed away from, it seems he is always saving her life, and the attraction was inevitable.

Upon meeting the brothers, strange things begin to happen. When she accidentally kills one of the brothers, it throws her life into turmoil, as they search to find the answers. Implausibly, she gets caught up in a world of the descendants of ancient gods, all who have super powers. Not only is her discovery difficult to accept, evil beings are after her. Running out of time and running for her life, she must unravel a mystery. What do they want from her? Forced into a battle set into motion long before she was born, will she find the answers, or will she die trying?

My Review: From Gods, a new twist on Greek Mythology by Author Mary Ting had me replaying the whole book back through my head DAYS after finishing the last page. Demi-Gods, Vultures, Seers…the cast, setting and story line that Mary Ting has created captures you in modern day and but lets you see life through the eyes of the descendants of ancient Greek Gods.

Author Mary Ting has it all. From her Crossroads Saga to her Adult book Something Great, I could not wait to get my hands on her new book From Gods. Who does not love a book with a Greek Mythology twist? I would say Mary Ting can write just about any subject in any genre at this point. She never disappoints.

Bio:  Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children's chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.

Book trailer:

Teaser 6:
Mason’s voice was sweet and caring. It was this side of him that made Skylar forget about his rude self. She always knew there was a wonderful side to him. She could just feel it when she first looked into his soulful eyes. “What will you say to them? Won’t they be looking for him?”
“I’ll figure something out. But that is not the reason I came here. I came to make sure you were okay, and since you weren’t answering your text, I thought…actually, I didn’t know what to think. I knew Remus went out and when he does, he’s out pretty late. I’m actually appalled. I never thought he could…well...he did have anger issues, but that’s not an excuse for what he did. I didn’t want you to think I left you there so Remus could do what he did, even though I had no idea what he did at first. You didn’t think that, did you?”
Skylar couldn’t remember if that ever crossed her mind, and since she didn’t want to make him feel bad, she shook her head. “No…I didn’t.”
“Good, because you may think I’m what you would call a ‘bad boy.’ I would never hurt you physically. I’m not that bad.”
Skylar gave a short smile and almost giggled, but stopped when his finger traced the cut on her lower right lip.
“Remus did this to you, didn’t he?” For a brief moment he closed his eyes and inhaled a deep breath, as if he was trying to suppress the anger that seemed to have crept up on him. Delicately, he brushed it again. “I’m sorry.”
The small gesture of his simple touch drove Skylar into a whirlwind of heated emotions. He was already sitting way too close, and every time she turned her head to speak, all she could do was think impure thoughts. In order to avoid something she might regret doing, she nodded to answer and pulled back, making Mason drop his hand.
“You should smile more often. It makes me smile,” he said unexpectedly.
Blushing like she’d never blushed before, she looked away shyly.
“How did you get back home? You didn’t fly, did you?”
“Nooo,” Skylar took in his teasing. “I…well…kind of…borrowed Remus’s car.”
“Borrowed, huh? I think it’s more like stealing.”
Unsure if Mason was joking again by his tone, she tensed up. “I—”
“I think I need to call the cops. Maybe I should call Doug. What do you think, Ms. Rome?” Mason chuckled.
He had called her Ms. Rome the night they met. Skylar couldn’t believe his sense of humor tonight. Laughing like a schoolgirl, she held on to the moment. After what had happened just a couple of hours ago, his presence gave her comfort and put her mind and heart at ease.
“If you don’t mind, I’m going to drive his car home.”
“Yes, of course. The key is on top of the dresser. Then, what about your car?”
“I didn’t drive here.”
“Then…how did you get here?”
Mason leaned over and whispered, “It’s my little secret.”
The small breeze from his warm breath in her ear sent tingly awareness all over her. Brushing away the thought of his lips on hers, she tried to focus on other things. Knowing he had super abilities, it didn’t surprise her that he ran there. Most likely, he figured out she’d taken Remus’s car to get home, so he came to retrieve it.
“It’s way past your bedtime, and you have to work tomorrow. I should go.” He got up and gave her his hand. The force of his pull made her leap into his arms. Inhaling a small gasp, she immediately drowned in their tangled bodies. In his arms she felt small, but safe for the very first time. From that moment, she knew without a doubt that she could trust him.
Mason finally released Skylar after gazing into her eyes longer than usual. “Umm…I should go now.” His eyes scanned her from head to toe as he guided her to her bed. “So…is this what you wear to bed?”
Warmth flushed to her cheeks. She suddenly realized she wasn’t wearing a bra, and immediately got into bed and pulled the sheet above her chest.
He gave a mischievous grin, twitching his brows.
“Why?” She examined what she wore…short shorts and a tank top. “What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? Should I be wearing something else?”
“Kind of skimpy, don’t you think?”
Great! He was back to being himself again. “Kind of skimpy? It’s hot,” she stated. Suddenly, she felt like she was exposing herself.
“It’s hot alright. Wear something longer next time, or else I may not be able to control myself.”
Skylar flushed with warmth again. He was actually flirting with her.
“Close your eyes,” he said, guiding her lower until her head was on the pillow. Then he sat on the edge of the bed. Flexing his muscles, he pressed his hands on either side of the pillow, and the intensity of the want and need in his eyes as he looked at her left her breathless. His eyes traveled to her lips, then back up to her eyes, and stayed there as he slowly moved to close the distance.
Withering beneath him, Skylar’s breath was still caught in her chest. His close proximity aroused every inch of her, and undeniable desire brewed in the energy between them. The pitter-patter of her heart made her chest rise and fall quickly as, anticipating his lips on hers, she could already taste his sweetness. Her lips parted, ready for him as he lowered toward her…closer…closer. Instead, with what seemed to take a great amount of effort from him, he found a spot and nuzzled the side of her neck.
“Close your eyes.” He huffed out a heavy, rough breath, as if he was trying to restrain himself from something he wanted to do. His hot breath brushed against the side of her neck, making her quiver in all the right places.
Frozen in place, Skylar had to gather herself before she could speak from the let down. “Close my eyes? But, you’re still here.” Her words could barely escape her lips. Snuggling into her pillow, she tried to shake off the heated daze.
Raking his hair back, he sat up, looking overcome. “Stop talking, Echo, or you’re going to the naughty corner.” His lips stretched into a smug half grin. Oh…that grin he does so well, frisky and sexy at the same time.
“And if I don’t? What are you going to do, spank me? No…are you going to shock me?”
He twitched his brows playfully. “You really want to know? We can do both and see how that feels.”
With no comeback, she sank deeper into the mattress, hiding beneath the sheet, secretly thinking how hot but twisted that sounded.
His hand reached over, covering her eyes. “Go to sleep, Echo.” His authoritative tone was final, but she was up for the challenge.
“My name isn’t Echo, and you’re still here,” she yawned, feeling extremely lethargic, waiting for his response. When she didn’t feel the lightweight over her eyes, she opened them. There was no sign of him, or any evidence he had gone out the door.

Dream Thieves Blog Tour Stop 8: Artwork, Writing, and importance of creative outlets

Welcome to stop #8 of The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater Blog Tour!

I want to start out by congratulating Maggie on her FIFTH starred review with the release of The Dream Thieves! Way to go! Very exciting, and much deserved!

One of the many things I love about Maggie, is that she is so very talented. To me, Maggie Stiefvater is synonymous with the word "artist" in all that it encompasses in its every form. This post was born of my interest of the different creative outlets that she dabbles in, and if she prefers one over another, or if she wasn't writing, if she would be doing something else in another creative field. Fortunately for all of us, Maggie's fans, she doesn't do one or another. She finds a way to incorporate all of them into one.

Maggie's post touches mostly on writing and drawing/artwork, and how she uses them to tell a story and bring the reader more into the world she is creating. However, Maggie also plays musical instruments, and even composes musical pieces (if anyone has listened to the audio book version of The Scorpio Races, you know what I am talking about). And she just got her motorcycle license....  I truly believe that there is nothing that Maggie Stiefvater cannot do. And yes, I just used a double negative.

Maggie Stiefvater on Artwork, Writing and the importance of creative outlets
I’ve always been a consummate doodler and storyteller — in my head, it’s hard to separate them. Even when I’m not actively pursuing art or writing, both of those things sort of seep in and fill in the cracks. So when I’m sitting in a dentist’s chair waiting for the dentist to arrive, my brain lovingly turns a story over and over. When I’m sitting in a tedious class, my hand doodles without me noticing. Sometimes I am doing one while doing the other, which seems as if it should be impossible, but apparently is not.

One of the great things about my job now is that I get to combine these two things. It actually becomes technically work to do something art-y. I was going to do this post using doodles from my life, but I realized as I was going through all of my art that there was just too much of it to even begin to sort. So instead, I’m going to just show you a little bit of the art that I’ve done on behalf of the books.

I used to panic as a teen thinking about how one day, I’d have to choose between the three things that I loved: art, writing, and music. I really wish that I could go back in time and tell sixteen-year-old Maggie that she was never going to have to choose. And that she should really get some bangs, because she would look friendlier with them. Alas, I did not yet have the technology. But hopefully it will help some OTHER sixteen year old. KEEP DOODLING.

Thanks so much for stopping by on this leg of The Dream Thieves Blog Tour. And many, many thanks to Maggie Stiefvater for the amazing post, and links to all of her beautiful artwork!

I am fortunate enough to have my own pieces of original Maggie Stiefvater artwork: The Dream Thieves Book plate she created (and just happened to sign, right on the inside cover of my copy of the book. *squeee!*) as well as a model of a Mitsubishi designed/decal-ed by Maggie - which my kids seem to want to play with, as if they don't have enough toys of their own. *sigh*.

I also have had the opportunity to read The Dream Thieves, and will be posting a review this week. Be sure to stop back and see if I loved it or not (as if all of you can't figure that out already. <smile>)

Blog Tour: The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

Book 2 in the Call of the Forgotten from The Iron Fey series
Publication date: October 29th by Harlequin Teen
In the real world, when you vanish into thin air for a week, people tend to notice.
After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as “normal” as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he’s forbidden to see her again.
But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, “normal” simply isn’t to be. For Ethan’s nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan’s and Keirran’s fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan’s next choice may decide the fate of them all.

Book 1 in the Call of the Forgotten from The Iron Fey series
Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.
That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.
Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

Which court I'd be a part of and why:  So after reading about all these fairies, and the three different courts, I'd be a part of the Summer Court, even though I really don't like Tatiana.  I hate Winter even more!  Don't get me wrong, I do love my electronics, but having the sun on my face beats a cell phone any day!  I love the feel of the sun, as it warms my skin.  I love the smell of flowers, even though I have a black thumb.  I just don't seem myself liking winter enough to give up flowers, even for Ash!  So I will be in summer, hanging with Puck and loving the sun!
About Julie Kagawa - her website | her blog | Twitter | Facebook | Goodreads

Julie Kagawa was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos and frequent hurricanes. She spent much of her time in the ocean, when she wasn’t getting chased out of it by reef sharks, jellyfish and the odd eel.
To pay the rent, Julie worked in different bookstores over the years, but discovered the managers frowned upon her reading the books she was supposed to be shelving. So she turned to her other passion: training animals. She worked as a professional dog trainer for several years, dodging Chihuahua bites and overly enthusiastic Labradors, until her first book sold and she stopped training to write full-time.
Julie now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where the frequency of shark attacks are at an all-time low. She lives with her husband, two obnoxious cats, one Australian shepherd who is too smart for his own good and the latest addition, a hyperactive Papillon puppy.
