Paperback: 320 Pages

Goodreads: A rule-breaker with a fiery attitude, Ella always wore her heart on her sleeve. Then she left everything behind to go to college, where she transformed into someone who follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. Now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home. But once there, Ella fears that everything she's worked so hard to bury might resurface-especially with Micha living right next door.

Smart, sexy, and confident, Micha can get under Ella's skin like no one else. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. If he tries to tempt the old Ella to return, he will be impossible to resist. But what Ella doesn't realize is that when she left, she took a piece of Micha's heart with her. Now he's determined to win back the girl he lost, no matter what it takes.

I have had this book on my TBR list for a while, so when asked if I wanted to do a review and giveaway to celebrate its release for the first time in print, with a new cover, I jumped at the chance to do it.  It is my first Jessica Sorensen book, and I can honestly say it will not be my last.
The book starts out with the "new" Ella preparing to return home for summer break from college - where she ran away to eight months before without telling anyone other than her father. Once back in town, her old life is slowly starting to chip away at the persona she has made for herself, revealing bits and pieces of he real Ella to her roommate.

Micha never stopped looking for Ella in all of the eight months she was gone. When he finally sees her again and sees who she has become, he does his best to bring out the real Ella, whether that is what she wants or not.

The story itself seems to be a popular one right now. Girl experiences tragedy/trauma, runs away to be someone else and start anew. What makes this one different is the characters. They are flawed, but try not not necessarily overcome it, but embrace it and make the most of it. And while looking for something new, they find out that what they really wanted is what they already had in the first place. They don't find something new and create a new life, they end up embracing they life they are given. And while it is not perfect, and the book doesn't end all flowers and rainbows, it does end positively.

I also love the secondary characters. Lila, Ella's roommate, BFF, and girl from a rich family who's life isn't as perfect as it seems; and Ethan, Micha's BFF, partner in crime, and guy who exemplifies where they all came from. They are great separate, and even better together. I am hoping to see more of them in future books... maybe even a story of their own.

I am looking forward to finding out what happens next in their lives. This book left off in a very positive for both Ella and Micha, and I am hoping that continues in The Forever of Ella and Micha, coming October 22, 2013.
