Blog Tour: SHADOWS by Jennifer L. Armentrout - 15 Things About Dawson

Jennifer L. Armentrout's OBSIDIAN was one of my top books of 2011, so it should come as no surprise that the novella about Daemon's twin brother, Dawson, was loved just as much. We are so excited to be a part of the SHADOWS (Lux #0.5) blog tour and have a special treat for you today. Dawson has shared 15 of his super secrets below.

But first, here's a bit about the book:

Shadows by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published: February 21, 2012
Publisher: Entangled Publishing

About: The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

***15 Things You Won't Learn About Dawson From Reading SHADOWS***

1. Dawson has an unnatural fear of muppets, especially the Jim Henson kind.
2. He hates the consistency of peanut butter.
3. Dawson has seen Dirty Dancing 13 times, but no one knows, especially not his brother, Daemon.
4. He believes that Tom Cruise is an alien.
5. He's also convinced that Lady Gaga is an Arum.
6. Dawson has never tasted apple pie.
7. His favorite book Go the F**K to Sleep. (He reads it to Dee nightly)
8. Once he pretended to be Daemon and broke things off with Ash.
9. When Ash realized this, she broke Dawson's arm... and chased Daemon over three counties
10. He's pretty sure the world stopped spinning when he saw Beth for the first time
11. Dawson has never swam in the ocean.
12. His favorite cartoon is Gummi Bears.
13. He thinks that Amazon may just be the Umbrella Corporation
14. Dawson wants to know that if a vampire bit a zombie, would it be a zombie or a vampire or a vampire zombie?
15. Once, when Daemon ticked him off, he set up a profile for Daemon on eHarmony and Match.com

Disclaimer: Some of these may not be true.

Emily's House Book 1 of the Akasha Chronicles/Give away

Author: Natalie Wright
Release date: Sept 2011
Publisher: Boadicea Press

Book Description:

Fourteen-year-old Emily Adams is flunking math - and life. But Emily has a secret, one that she has kept even from her best friends. Soon the ancient legacy coursing through her veins will force her secret to be revealed. Dormant for over a thousand years, an evil has arisen and this time, it will destroy anyone - or anything - that stands in its way.

Three teens embark on a dangerous journey and risk everything. For Emily, the fate of her friends - and her world - lies in her hands.

In a place where anything is possible, will Emily finds the skills - and courage -she needs to save the world from darkness?

Emily's House is a tale that blends Celtic mysticism, spirituality and ancient secrets with science and modern technology. Travel with Emily as she unlocks the secrets of her Celtic ancestors on a mystical journey to the inner house and beyond.

My review:
I could not put this book down. I read it straight through. I LOVE Ireland and it is seriously a bucket list item of mine. I will be seriously disappointed if when the day comes I do arrive there and there is absolutely nothing mystical, magical, supernatural or paranormal. Green is my favorite color and when I think of Ireland, I see green. (yes totally random bu true)!!

Emily's mom died after a battle with cancer. Losing your mom is never easy, especially when you are a young girl. Being left with a shell of a father and a mean Aunt that makes your life a living hell, Emily is not a happy teen. Her best friends are her life line. They have no clue how bad she really has it but they suspect it is not good at all!

When Emily and her friends are in her awesome tree house, a very special guest visits. This changes Emily and her BFF's lives forever. Emily is taken on an incredible journey to Ireland that not only makes her feel closer to her beloved mother but also challenges her in every way possible. Will Emily ever see her dad again? Will Emily's new life and new found knowledge separate her and the people most dear to her heart? Want an answer to these questions? THEN BUY THIS BOOK NOW! You can buy online in paperback or ebook. Seriously...this was a great read. The story line stays very active and right on track. There is always a great reason to turn that next page.

I highly suggest this book if you love to read YA with good values hidden through out the book, magic, coming of age realizations and just a great story!

Teaser Tuesday: Last Breath (Morganville Vampires #11) by Rachel Caine

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read;
  • Open your book to a random page;
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page;
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.

This week's teaser comes from Last Breath by Rachel Caine

"You're not here, and you'll never be here again," he was saying in that dull, empty voice. He checked the clip on the handgun, racked the slide with a harsh metallic click, and then sat quietly with it held in his hand. "You're just in my head." (page 212)

I don't know about anyone else, but that gives me the chills. I haven't actually made it this far in the book, so I had to peek and see just who was saying that. Of course I am not telling. But I also don't know why this is happening, so I am going back to reading right now, and see if I can get that far to waylay all the fears running through my head.

Happy Reading!

It's Monday! What are you reading?

This great meme is hosted by One Persons Journey Through a World of Books. Each week will share with you the books we are reading, just finished reading and those books we are planning to read this week.

Ok, I know it is not Monday, but in my defense, I was sick in bed all day yesterday, so I am making up for it today.

Currently Reading:

Last Breath (Morganville #11) by Rachel Caine

Just Finished:

Bite Club (Morganville #10) by Rachel Caine

Planning to read:

Wow, I honestly do not have a clue as to what I am going to read next. I have such a large pile of TBR books not just by my bed, but what seems like all around the house (much to my husband's dismay). I haven't really planned on what is coming next, only because it all depends on what I am in the mood for after finishing Last Breath.

Please share with us in the comments what you are reading, what you have finished and what might be next on the agenda for you (hopefully you have more of an idea than I do. LOL)

Happy Reading!

Author Interview Emily White-Elemental

Could this cover be any more GORGEOUS? OMG I love this cover. What a BEAUTY! I am so excited to present my interview that I had with Emily White, the INCREDIBLE author of this GORGEOUS book! I will be giving away 5 book marks of Elemental (see bottom for picture)! They are GORGEOUS too! My picture does them no justice. Now without further ado...

Hi Emily! It is so nice to meet. Let me first say THANK YOU for taking time to interview with us here at Books Complete Me. I am SO EXCITED to read your debut novel Elemental. I don't usually hold interviews by the book so to speak so we will touch on all types of things..deal?

**Thank you for having me!! I love things that don't go by the book. This should be exciting!!**

When did you first know that you were going to write a book?

**I've been writing books since before I could actually write. I used to draw pictures and squiggle some lines underneath them, and then staple all the pages together. Usually the stories were about a little blonde girl (who was, of course, gorgeous and wonderful) who had two cruel sisters and a very wonderful mommy and daddy who'd come to her rescue. But I really didn't take writing seriously until about six years ago. Writing a book used to be a wonderful idea and a lofty goal, but it wasn't until a very low point in my life when I decided that I needed to take charge and actually do it.**

Your first reaction to having Elemental published by SHP?

**(I have a picture that I'll have to figure out a way to get to you)**

Who is the most famous person you have met?

**I've met a few famous people, but the person most everyone would recognize is Gavin Rossdale from Bush. I went to L.A. with a college friend and we attended a live taping of some mtv show. He and the rest of his band were there and my friend and I were sitting right by the stage where he was. When the show went to commercial break, a bunch of girls rushed over to meet him and as he moved to leave, he hit me in the back with his knee. Actually, at the time, I thought it was one of the fan girls who did it and I turned around to glare at the person. He apologized, I decided not to glare (because really, he was just trying to escape), and he offered to get his picture taken with my friend (she was a HUGE fan of his).**

Who do you consider inspirations in your life?

**Other writers. When I hear stories of other writers and their successes or the way they overcome a difficult hurtle, I really get inspired to work harder and write more.**

What was the first item you AUTOGRAPHED as an author?

**My Elemental bookmarks. It was really weird, too. I still can't wrap my mind around the fact someone would actually care about having my name on something.**

Elemental is a trilogy...do you have estimated dates of when we can get the rest of the series?

**I'm working on revisions for FAE, the sequel to Elemental. When I get further along on that, we should have an idea of when it will be ready. Hopefully sometime this Fall!**

What is the HARDEST part of writing?

**Writing the next word. After I push through and write that scene at near super speed because I love it so much, finding the next word to write after that is the hardest. Sometimes it will take me hours, maybe days to figure out.**

What is your favorite part of writing?

**Revisions. I LOVE them. I know I sound crazy, but it's true. I guess it's the same reason my favorite chore at home is polishing the faucets. You get to see it sparkle.**

What does your family think of having an author in the family?

**They are thrilled. My parents and husband brag about it to everyone they know. For my mom, this is like a dream come true. She always wanted to be a published author, so now she gets to celebrate along with me.**

What is your favorite type of book to read?

**I love reading anything YA, but my heart still belongs to the classics. Anything by Jonathan Swift, Jane Austen, C.S. Lewis.**

What is one thing that you would like us to know about you?

**I am VERY shy and kind of a dork. I know a lot of mundane facts that are great conversation starters (or ways to get people to look at me strangely). :)**

Do you talk to your fans a lot on Facebook if they give you shout outs?

**I LOVE to talk to people on facebook. But let me just say something that goes along with the previous question. I'm kind of a dork, so it is REALLY hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I might have fans. Just reading this question has me blushing. So I like to consider people who are excited about my book, or about me in general, my friends. Me and fans? That's just craziness!**

How deep into your books do you get as you are writing? Do you connect with your characters? Do they "haunt" you while you are writing them?

**Oh, they definitely haunt me. Writing Ella's character was so hard for me sometimes because she goes through so much. I definitely connected with her.**

Favorite color, animal and food?

**Pink, chipmunk, and cheese.**

How important do you feel a book cover is?

**Equally important to the writing. If you don't have reviews to help you along, it's the cover that sells the book. It needs to stand out on a bookshelf and connect with a potential buyer immediately.**

How do you feel that social sites like FB and Twitter have changed the writing industry?

**On the one hand, I love it because it's so much easier to connect with people. On the other hand, I wish it didn't eat up so much of my writing and family time. It's all about finding a balance. I'm still trying to work that out. :)**

THANK YOU EMILY!!!!

Emily White will be at BEA in NYC this June, signing books at the SHP (Spencer Hill Press) table in the morning on June 6th! (me being green with envy as I want to go so badly)

Five Stars Friday

We here at BCM really, really, really love books that just knock our socks off. We know you do too, so we thought we'd start up a new meme just for those books that we absolutely could not put down; those books that received our highest rating and deserve a little extra recognition.

Every Friday we'll select one book that we've given 5 stars to and tell you a little about why we loved this book so much. Our hope is that this meme will provide some recognition for some books that maybe you haven't heard of but that should be added to your to-be-read pile immediately. There is no age limit on the books we'll choose. They could be yet to be released, newly released or several years old.

We hope you enjoy this meme and we'd love it if you joined in. If you choose to participate, please leave us a link in your comment to your post so we can visit your blog. And if you don't have a blog, please just leave a comment with a book title and author. We'd love to find some new books to add to our to-be-read piles!

This week we are spotlighting a book that is an oldie but a goodie. I have not yet actually reviewed it here on BCM, but it is definitely a Five Star book for me.

Before Bella and Edward, and even Elena and Stefan, there was Zoe and Simon.

Original Cover
The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause
Original Publication Date: August 1, 1992
by Laurel Leaf Publishing
Reprint Edition Published: July 29, 2009
ISBN: 0375857826
256 pages
Ages 12+

From Goodreads: Zoe is wary when, in the dead of night, the beautiful yet frightening Simon comes to her house.  Simon seems to understand the pain of loneliness and death and Zoe's brooding thoughts of her dying mother.
Simon is one of the undead, a vampire, seeking revenge for the gruesome death of his mother three hundred years before.  Does Simon dare ask Zoe to help free him from this lifeless chase and its insufferable loneliness?

Reprint Cover
Ok, this book is old.... I am dating myself, but I was one year away from graduating high school when this book came out. When I first read it, waaaaaay back then, I loved it. It grabbed hold of me, rooted itself deep inside of me, and is a book that I will never be able to let go of. I read this book at least once a year. For all of the girl meets boy, girl finds out boy is a vampire, girl falls in love with vampire stories that are out there, and that I love, this was the book that started it all for me. Yes, I have been a vampire fan for that long--actually longer. And I will continue to be until they cease to exist.
The Silver Kiss is not the first book in a series. There are no spin offs/companion novels to it. It is a fantastic stand alone that is a quick and easy read, but it is one that has definitely made an impact.

Cover Reveal: GRAVITY by Melissa West

We've participated in quite a few cover reveals here at BCM, but I can honestly say this cover that we're helping to reveal today is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. GRAVITY is Melissa West's debut YA sci-fi romance novel.

Here's the blurb:

In the future, only one rule will matter:

Don't. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last
person she expected hovering above her bed - arrogant Jackson Locke, the
most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind
of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help
him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her
question what she's been taught about his kind. And against her instincts,
she's falling for him. But Ari isn't just any girl, and Jackson wants more
than her attention.  Sheąs a military legacy whoąs been trained by her
father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can
know - especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the
information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping
silent will start a war.

Doesn't it sound awesome?

And now, what you've been wanting to see. The cover of GRAVITY:

I. LOVE. THIS. COVER. L.O.V.E!

You can pre-order GRAVITY through Amazon

And you can find Melissa West online:

Falling In Between by Devon Ashley - Character Interview & Giveaway

So I got the honor of interviewing Robert from Falling In Between by Devon Ashley!!!

BCM: What does your mother really think about Jenna?

Robert: Eh...my mother. She's not too fond of me dating outside 'the social circuit'. She has a certain type of girl in mind that was raised in the ways of the socialites and anyone that wasn't just isn't good enough. And since my brother Reynold married a non-socialite last summer, my mom's been really determined to have her only remaining son adapt to her socialite lifestyle and marry the daughter of a friend of hers. So,,,no. My mom's not that fond of me dating Jenna. She's really hoping it ends as a high school romance.

BCM: Just out of curiosity, why did you save yourself?

Robert: I wasn't so much saving myself. I just hadn't found the girl that did it for me. I mean, I've dated a few girls here and there but no one I wanted to commit to long term. But Jenna...man, she's got pheromones coming off her or something because once I got in close, I just felt this need to be with her then on out.

BCM: Now I'm really curious, how much WAS that stone worth? It has to be more than what you told Jenna.

Robert: Ah, man. I'm never going to hear the end of this. Ever since Jenna caught my mother staring at that stone I haven't heard the end of it. Let's just say this. It's more than three hundred thousand. Anything more specific and I'm pleading the fifth!

BCM: Did Jhett tell you what color her dress was, so that you could dress to match? (That was super cute by the way!)

Robert: He did. Apparently Sophie was going on and on and on about their dresses - enough times that it actually burned into Jhett's memory bank. And even if I couldn't be with her at prom, I didn't want her to be flowerless. So I asked Jhett to take the credit for the orchid. Otherwise she may not have worn it.

BCM:
How excited are you to be able to go to college in the same town as Jenna?

Robert: Oh I can't wait! I hate that I'm going to have pass the entire summer without seeing her, but come next fall...Really excited.

Thanks Robert for letting me question you!!!

The Childe Blog Tour FINAL POST

A word from our authors Adam and Carol Kunz:
Here we are at the end of The Childe blog tour and we’ve been racking our brains trying to figure out one last post to leave you with here on Books Complete me. Should it be a guest post, an author interview, a character interview, one more review? Actually it’s none of these. We’ve decided that a fitting last post would be one that simply said…THANK YOU! To be honest we have a thousand Thanksgivings worth of thanks to be given out. We want to thank all the bloggers who posted every post and read and reviewed (no easy task mind you…writing reviews is a tough business) our novels. We want to thank everyone who helped spread the word and supported this tour from the beginning. We’d like to thank each and every person who left a wonderful comment. We’d also like to thank Mindy Fangedmom for helping us put this whole thing together and Books Complete Me for hosting the tour. We really want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts, because without you there wouldn’t have even been a tour to begin with!

To say that we’ve had fun during this past month would be a huge understatement and from judging by the comments that you’ve all left, we think it’s safe to say that you’ve enjoyed yourself too. We can’t thank you all enough and we really have been humbled by all of your support!

Now onto the business portion of this post. So today is the last day you can enter for a chance to win a Kindle Fire. The winner will be announced Wednesday, February 15th on our blog (http://www.cakunz.blogspot.com), so make sure you check there to see if you’ve won!

This time instead of waiting until we get 5 comments, we’re just going to post the question right now. So without further ado, here’s your final Kindle Fire giveaway question:

What was your favorite post from this whole tour?

Remember to send your answer to kindlefirechilde@gmail.com
