Rule of Three Blog Tour: Rebel Heart by Moira Young review and giveaway

Welcome to the Dust Lands. If you are not familiar with them, or need a refresher, Dust Lands is the series by Moira Young.

Books Complete Me is one of three blogs taking part in today's Rule of Three Blog Tour. It ties in with Jack's Rule of Three. Don't remember that? Then you need to reread the book. Ok, yes a bit mean, but I can't just go out there and post spoilers for those who haven't read it now, can I?

Each Monday, for three weeks, to celebrate the release of Rebel Heart and paperback version of Blood Red Road,  three blog sites will post unique content including guest posts from Moira Young, reviews/giveaways, and blogger created fan features.
We have the review and giveaway. Stick around to the end of the post and find out about the great things you can enter to win.

The first book, Blood Red Road was published in 2011, and is one of my absolute favorite books. You can find my review HERE. It is now out in paperback with a brand new eyecatching cover.

About Blood Red Road

Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives, along with four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured, and Saba embarks on an epic quest to get him back.
Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. So perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself: she's a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.

About Rebel Heart

Nothing is certain and no one is safe in the second book in the highly praised Dust Lands trilogy, which MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog called “better than The Hunger Games.”

It seemed so simple: Defeat the Tonton, rescue her kidnapped brother, Lugh, and then order would be restored to Saba’s world. Simplicity, however, has proved to be elusive. Now, Saba and her family travel west, headed for a better life and a longed-for reunion with Jack. But the fight for Lugh’s freedom has unleashed a new power in the dust lands, and a formidable new enemy is on the rise.

What is the truth about Jack? And how far will Saba go to get what she wants? In this much-anticipated follow-up to the riveting Blood Red Road, a fierce heroine finds herself at the crossroads of danger and destiny, betrayal and passion.

As previous stated, Blood Red Road is one of my favorite books. And I tell everyone that I talk to that they need to read it. After reading it, I could not wait for Rebel Heart to be published. It showed up as one of my Waiting on Wednesdays way back in July 2012. I was so excited to be part of this blog tour, because not only do I get to read and review the book (which I would have done anyway), but I get to team up with two other blogs to bring even more goodies to all of you readers out there.

Rebel Heart starts up some time after the fight, and win, against the Tonton. But things are not celebratory, even though Lugh was saved, and Saba, Emmi, and Lugh are all back together again. They have added another to their band of travelers, Tommo opting to stay with the three after Ike's death.
When the three split up from Jack, who had some things to take care of before vowing to meet them out West, they thought it would be easy going, and they would be out West in no time: living off the land, creating a homestead, Jack and Saba reunited.
But as it seems to go in a desolate world where hope is but a dream, things do not go quite as planned. In fact, they go quite the opposite. The search for Lugh and fight with the Tonton has changed Saba and Emmi, and Lugh suffered yet unknown terrors at the hands of the Tontons. Everyone has their ghosts, secrets, and suffering.
To make matters worse, Jack seems to have deflected to the Tontons. Lugh isn't surprised, but no one else believes it. Will that be their downfall?
Moira Young continues a great story in this second book that doesn't fall under the "curse of the second book". It is just as gritty. Just as powerful. And just as edge of your seat, book in the fridge, as Blood Red Road.
There are new characters introduced, and alliances are tested, and Saba even finds herself doing something so completely out of character for her, I found myself yelling at the book. That is the only thing I had a problem with, although I know it is vital for the plot of the story, and wherever Young is taking us. And I know that Saba was not thinking completely straight when it happened. But I was still so upset. I am really wondering how it is going to play out.

All the waiting and anticipation has paid off for this book.  I was not let down, and it was worth the wait. Although now I have a long time to wait for the next book. But if things keep going like they are in the Dust Lands, it is going to be a doozy.

Before I get to the giveaway, I just want to remind everyone to check out the other two blogs taking part in today's Rule of Three Blog Tour:

Presenting Lenore
The Book Smugglers

And be sure to check out the Dust Lands website for fun and information about the series.

Could you survive the Dust Lands?
One winner will receive a Dust Lands Prize Pack including a custom T-shirt, custom water bottle and copies of Blood Red Road and Rebel Heart.  I am actually a bit jealous that I am not able to enter this contest, because although I have the books, I would love the T-shirt and water bottle.
