From Goodreads: In this dramatic conclusion to the Shade trilogy, Aura and Zachary’s relationship sizzles as the secrets of the Shift are revealed.

Life can change in an instant, and no one understands that better than Aura. It’s been almost a year since her boyfriend tragically died. She’s finally letting go of Logan’s violet-hued ghost, but not her search to uncover the truth about her past.

As the first in a generation that can see ghosts, Aura is convinced she has a connection to the Shift. She’s trusted Zachary, ever patient and ever by her side, with all that she knows. But when the government threatens his life in an attempt to learn Aura’s secrets, she will stop at nothing to protect herself and the one she loves...even if that means betraying her own heart.

I love this book!
I love this book!
I love this book!

Sorry.... I got carried away. I will get on with the review:

With today being release day for this book, I want to try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible. Which is going to be hard, because there is so much awesomeness in this book, that I just want to shout it out!
The first two books in the series, Shade and Shift, do a great job in setting up this story. With Logan finally at peace, this is Aura and Zach's book all the way (*sigh* Zach). They have been researching the Shift, what caused it, why it happened, how it happened, and why they were the bookends of the time that the Shift happened. Now whether or not they actually find out anything, you will have to find out for yourself, because I am not telling.
Smith-Ready really raises the bar with this book. There isn't a book that she has written that I don't love, but I think this is the best written of them all. This book is absolute perfection.
The detail and research that Smith-Ready had to have done in order to write about the happenings in this book is spot on. I can tell that she put her heart and soul into bringing the most accurate depiction of what was going on that she could.
And the emotion in this book is so deep and heartfelt that there were times I was reading this with a heavy heart just imagining what was taking place. At the same time though, there were parts that made me grin like the Cheshire cat, and mustn't forget the swoon. So much swoon. There is nothing like a romantic Scot to get the heart all aflutter.
This is the third and final installment of the Shade series (except for a highly anticipated Zach short story). Yes, I am sad that there will be no more Shade books coming out. I am also happy, because this book is amazing. This was the perfect end to this series.

  1. YAY!!! I'm so glad this one lives up to all expectations. I'm so excited to read it and I cannot wait to see how it ends.

  3. Can you see anything at all? Like I mean.. even make out parts of the person's body vaguely after your eyes get accustomed to the dark?
