CLARITY by Kim Harrington is phenomenal. I loved, loved, loved every single page of this book. It's exciting from beginning to end and I'm so glad I can share it with you!

Here's a little about the book and the author:

Clarity by Kim Harrington
Release Date: March 1, 2011
Publisher: Scholastic/Point

About the Book: When you can see things others can't, where do you look for the truth?

This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.

Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It's a gift.
And a curse.

When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare's ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case - but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare's brother - who has supernatural gifts of his own - becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?

***Interview with Kim Harrington***
BCM: You recently announced that CLARITY was optioned for a TV show. Can you tell us what it felt like to first hold that in for so long and then to finally, be able to announce it? (CONGRATULATIONS!!!!)
KH: I held that good news in for SEVEN MONTHS. It’s very flattering that someone out there thinks CLARITY would make a great TV show. And from the response I’ve gotten from fans, a lot of you agree! That makes me all kinds of happy. But I try not to get my hopes up because the reality is that the chances of it becoming a show are still very small. But, at the very least, you guys have all learned that I know how to keep a secret. ;)
BCM: Clarity is such a spunky and determined character. What parts of her are also in you?
KH: We share a love of sarcasm. Like Clare, I would do anything for my family. But I am nowhere near as brave as she is.
BCM: What can we expect next for Clarity?
KH: Up next is PERCEPTION, coming March 1, 2012. Clare has another dangerous mystery to solve and romantic entanglements to figure out. I think it’s even more thrilling than the first book, and I hope you all agree!
BCM: If you were a cookie, what kind would you be and why?
KH: Slightly undercooked…because I’ve been told my sense of humor is. ;)
BCM: Keeping a book suspenseful and mysterious throughout is no easy task. How do you do it?
KH: First and foremost, I prefer to keep a fast pace. Any scene that doesn’t add to the story gets cut. It doesn’t matter if it’s beautiful and poetic. It could contain the best lines I’ve ever written. But if it doesn’t move the story forward…buh-bye. Also, I meticulously plan where and when clues will be dropped. I don’t want the reveal to be so out of left field that the reader had no chance of predicting it. But I also don’t want the reader to have everything figured out by page five. I want her to figure out some things before the end (because that’s a satisfying feeling), but not everything. It’s a balancing act.
BCM: You can only read 5 books for the rest of your life. What are they and why?
KH: This is the hardest question ever! I hate this question! :)
I’m going to pick five of my all-time favorites. Books that I wouldn’t mind reading again and again. In no particular order:
1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (can I please have all three???)
2) The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
3) Bag of Bones by Stephen King
4) Kissing the Beehive by Jonathan Carroll
5) Somewhere in Time by Richard Matheson
