Review: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Release Date: April 5, 2011
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Genre: YA

The Story: (from Penguin) It's been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.

Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.

Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.

My Review: There are not enough adjectives to describe my love for this book. I don't know how it's possible but I believe I love this one even more than the first book, If I Stay

Adam's life should be all he'd ever wanted. He's an insanely famous rocker who can have any girl he wants. His band is huge and they are about to leave on a world tour. He should be on top of the world. Instead, he finds himself distraught with nearly everything in his life. His live-in girlfriend is nice but it's like he knows she's not the one. But the one who was the one left him long ago.

This book is brilliant in every way. It's gripping, emotional, painful, healing. I savored every word on every page, marveling at the genius writing style of Gayle Forman. She has a gift for creating an unforgettable world so real that I never want to leave, even if it is bringing me to tears page after page.

There is so much I want to say about this book but I'm so afraid to spoil even one detail of this heartbreaking and amazing book that I'm going to just say this: I. Love. This. Book. If you were a fan of If I Stay, you seriously need to pick up this book today, or pre-order it. I cannot recommend it enough. It's simply breathtaking.
