Review: Shadow of the Sun by Laura Kreitzer

Shadow of the Sun by Laura Kreitzer
Release Date: February 22, 2010
Genre: YA Urban-Fantasy

The Story: Gabriella Moretti is used to being the odd man out. Graduating with her PhD at the age of 19, she takes a job as a supernatural specialist because she wants to do something different. Most of the time she is just there to disprove the theories of the supernatural. Until one day she receives three dead, ancient corpses on which to do research. Only when she opens the shipment, the bodies look nothing like they did when they left Italy. They are full of color and life, and have the ability to heal themselves.

With this discovery, Gabriella is thrown into a whirlwind of catastrophic proportions. She will not only realize that the world she as she knows it is changed forever, but that she is right in the middle of it all.

My Review: I had never read anything by Laura Kreitzer before wanting to sign up for this blog tour. I went on book discription alone. And the premise of this book is a fascinating and engrossing one. I can't say that I loved this book, but I did like it. It was an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters, and the interactions between them. I just personally thought there was just too much going on for one book. It could have easily been split up into at least another book on its own. There were some side stories that I would have liked to have gone more into depth. That being said, I am intrigued and pulled into the story. I am really looking forward to reading Soul Stalker to find out what happens next.
