Review: Rising Shadow by Jacquelyn Wheeler

Rising Shadow by Jacquelyn Wheeler
Publisher: Jacquelyn Wheeler
Publication Date: Oct 2010
Genre: SciFi/supernatural YA

The Story: Ashlyn Woods can't wait to put her past behind her and start her life over as a normal college student. But her plans take an unexpected turn when she discovers that she is a Soterian: a person who develops amazing powers when the balance of good and evil shifts too far in evil's favor. Soon she and the other Soterians are learning to use their powers to prevent California from being plunged into chaos. But they quickly discover that they're up against a much more dangerous enemy than they anticipated. And when Ashlyn meets Kai, a devastatingly gorgeous guitar player, she realizes she must sacrifice more than she ever imagined.

My Review: Wow, I was intrested in this book just from the story overview. But, as I started reading it, I couldn't predict anything that was going on. Wheeler throws new things in when you least expect it. Ashlyn is easy to relate to. Oh, and Kai, wow. You never thought you'd develop book crushes! He's perfect. Which reminds me of my own hubby. ;) The story flows very well, something I find important in a book. If you like anything in the supernatural, you'll like this new twist on super powers. There's more to this series, which I can't wait for book 2!
