Guest Post with DC Grace

The Guardians, as you know from The Sacred Oath, are the sworn protectors of the last Thunderbirds on Thunder Mountain. They are “chosen,” if you will, through specific blood lines in the Ho-Chunk nation, and not everyone in a family is a Guardian. They are special and unique. And if you notice, they do protect more than just the Thunderbirds. Their goodness of heart makes them protectors of the Ho-Chunk nation, and yet they are representative of every man.

I wrote the Guardians to reflect that special hero in us all; the one that creeps to the front when the unexpected happens, and we jump in to help a total stranger, no questions asked. That is the basis of the Guardians; we’re all Guardians, every one of us. Like the Guardians themselves, we are all special and unique. And we all possess that inner hero, that human need to reach out a helping hand. And sometimes, if we’re lucky, we catch a glimpse of a hero in a nameless face in the crowd, and it makes us strive to be better people because of that one person’s actions. That is what the Guardians are all about.
