BCM: As a top-rated podcast host, convince me to subscribe to your
podcast in two sentences.

DW: The New Media Minute is a great resource for learning about the trends
to watch, who's making money, and why new media deals matter!

BCM: Which do you find more challenging: producing media or being an author?

DW: Both are challenging in their own ways! But being an author is newer
to me, so more challenging for that reason.

BCM: What has been the most exciting thing to happen since you got your
publishing deal?

DW: Hearing from readers! I adore hearing from teens and adults who have
enjoyed the book.

BCM: Describe yourself in four words.

DW: Driven, focused, giving, happy

BCM: We know that your book The Mockingbirds can really get a reader to
think about what they are reading, but how has writing the book
impacted the way you think?

DW: If you are going to write a book about the importance of taking a
stand, I find it's important to keep doing that in life.

Book Info:

The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney
Release Date: November 2, 2010

Book Summary: (from Hachette) Some schools have honor codes. Others have handbooks. Themis Academy has the Mockingbirds.

Themis Academy is a quiet boarding school with an exceptional student body that the administration trusts to always behave the honorable way--the Themis Way. So when Alex is date raped during her junior year, she has two options: stay silent and hope someone helps her, or enlist the Mockingbirds--a secret society of students dedicated to righting the wrongs of their fellow peers.

In this honest, page-turning account of a teen girl's struggle to stand up for herself, debut author Daisy Whitney reminds readers that if you love something or someone--especially yourself--you fight for it.
