#BIR2010 - Interview with Cassandra Clare & Clockwork Angel Giveaway

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Clockwork Angel has made it to the list of our favorite books of 2010. I could not put this book down and am super excited for the next book to come out. I loved the MI series but I think I may actually love this one even more.

So...I was ecstatic when Cassie agreed to participate in the BIR2010 event. Our interview with her is below and you can enter to win Clockwork Angel and some amazing signed swag also. Thank you Simon & Schuster!

BCM: If you had to choose between Jase, Simon, Will and Jem right now, who would you choose?

CC: Right this very moment? Probably Simon. Simon's sort of a mashup of my husband and my best friend with a little of myself thrown in, so I know we'd get along. If Simon wasn't available, Will. Will would make me laugh and I'd always be wondering what bizarre thing he would do next.
BCM: Name three books that you feel have influenced your own writing in some way.

CC: The Essential Bordertown: A Traveller's Guide to the Edge of Faerie, edited by Terri Windling; The Golden Bough, by Joseph Frazier, Sandman, Neil Gaiman
BCM:  What are your favorite pair of shoes and what do they say about you? Can we see a picture of them?
CC: My faves are always Fluevogs. Right now these are it:

I liked them because the button decoration reminded me of Victorian era boots so I guess right now they say I'm a Victoriana-obsessed Anglophile.
BCM: Do you have any really crazy or memorable fan moments you can share with us?

CC: Once someone asked if they could smell me. They said they could tell a lot about someone by their smell.
BCM: We know that you are one of OUR best reads of this year but what is your best read of 2010?

CC:  Conspiracy of Kings by Meghan Whalen Turner.

Book Summary (from Simon & Schuster): Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

  1. Can't wait to read this one! Thanks!

  2. Another EXCELLENT give away! Thank you BCM! Once again, Cryer's Cross scared the stuffing out of me! I love that widget! You should do a post and ask everyone what their reaction was (or still is) and if they still get scared and where they are when it spooks them! Unless of course it is just me then we can all just shake our heads and laugh at me! I don't mind. Go ahead....:)

  3. I've been wanting to read this for awhile now. Thank you for giving us the chance to win!

  4. Simon! I'd pick him any day. And smelling people just seems awkward...

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. I haven't read any of her books yet but this one sounds interesting. And that cover . . .

  6. So excited for her new series! Thanks for the great interview and giveaway!

  7. I think today is the first day your site hasn't said "help me" and scared the pants off me or was that someone else' sight. The first time I heard it was three o clock in the morning and I must have jumped 10 feet because it came across my head phones!
