*Warning: This review may contain spoilers. I tried not to give too much away but I don't want to ruin anything for anyone so read at your own risk.*
The Story: Since Nora's near-death experience at the end of Hush, Hush, she has enjoyed a few months of happiness with Patch. Having your (hot) boyfriend as your guardian angel certainly has its advantages - that is, until the archangels find out you are in love with him.
Suddenly, Patch becomes distant and when Nora finds out that Patch is seeing her enemy, Marcie Millar, behind her back she is left heartbroken and wondering if he ever cared for her at all.
When a childhood friend moves back to town Nora attempts to be his friend but strange things begin to happen. She is seeing her dead father and feels like he's trying to tell her something but every time she gets close to him he disappears. Nora becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to her father but she is getting little help from Patch. She decides to take matters into her own hands but finds herself in even more danger than before.
It seems that everyone has dark secrets they are keeping from Nora. Who can she really trust?
My Review: One word: AMAZING. I received this book in the mail from Simon & Schuster on Wednesday afternoon and finished it Thursday night (and that's with two small children to take care of). I could not put it down. Crescendo is gripping, Patch is smoldering and Nora faces danger at every turn. Becca brings a whole new level of excitement in Crescendo that will have you melting one moment and on the edge of your seat the next. I felt more connected to the characters in this book and found myself laughing at Vee more times than I can count. Patch was even more irresistible and I didn't think that was possible. I felt Nora's pain cutting me deeply and the ending has me begging for more. Becca has done an incredible job with Crescendo- even better than Hush, Hush (again, how is that possible?) and I cannot wait to read more from her.
Rating: 5 HUGE Stars
Here are just a couple of my favorite (spoiler-free) quotes from Crescendo:
Vee: "I see the incontinence problem didn't go away over time."
Nora: "Don't make me regret this."
Patch: "You haven't regretted me once."
Vee: "I don't know what it is about hot dogs, but they're like an instant shot of courage. I feel like I can do anything after I've had a hot dog."
