I am so happy that I've read her books and now, as an added bonus, Jennifer has agreed to not only an interview for BCM but also, a giveaway of SIGNED copies of Heavenly and Penitence to go to one lucky follower!
First, lets learn a little more about Jennifer:
BCM: Have you always wanted to be a writer?
JL: I wanted to be a mother first. As an only child, I dreamed of big families, so I had 6 children. Once they were all in school, I started writing professionally.
BCM: Who was the hardest character in Heavenly and Penitence to write and why?
JL: Luke. My son was going through a drug abuse problem at the time. Like most of the happenings in Heavenly, Luke's happenings happened and writing them out enabled me to control the outcome - something I wasn't able to do back in the thick of it all.
BCM: Did you have someone in mind as you were writing Matthias?
JL: No. Just someone beautiful to look at who radiated goodness, light and compassion.
BCM: Zoe is just a normal teenage girl until she falls in love with an angel. How did you walk that fine line of keeping it believable?
JL: Having 6 children who've all BEEN teenagers keeps me close to the pulse of teenagers, their interests, etc.
BCM: I know that you have a child who has autism. Did your own experiences help you in the writing process for these books?
JL: Definitely. All of the things that happened to the family with Abria, happened to our family to one degree or another. The HEAVENLY series is really my family's story to a great degree. Each of my children has had to learn how to accept and deal with their sister who has autism in their own way. It hasn't been easy for any of us.
BCM: With six children, how do you find time to write?
JL: It's easy now because they're all at school, married now or working and I take advantage of that time and write from 9-5, sometimes later if I'm trying to finish a project.
BCM: Who are your favorite authors to read?
JL: Nora Roberts, Markus Zusak, Scott Spencer and Zoe Heller
BCM: How many books are you planning for this series?
JL: Three are finished. I think the story wraps up nicely with three. I'm very happy where each character goes through the stories and hope readers will be also.
