BCM Classic: Review for Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance

Our heroine Grace Alexander is a sex therapist who’s basically a plain insecure woman with many traumas. She’s had her heart broken and is still grieving over her parents untimely death. She has an eccentric friend named Selena who thinks it would be fun and interesting for Grace to conjure up an ancient Greek love slave from a book. Enter our hero Julian of Macedonia. He’s an ancient general. He’s handsome and definitely eager to please. It turns out he is the son of Aphrodite and was cursed by his brother Priapus for taking one of his virgins. He’s been trapped in the book for 2000 years. He emerges as a love slave when conjured by a woman to serve her needs for one month at a time. After the month its back into the book for him. While out his only purpose is to serve the woman who conjured him. Of course its unfulfilling and empty until he finds Grace. Together they have to find a way to break the curse so they can have a future together.

This was a fun easy read. I enjoyed the romance and Julian’s backstory. There was a particularly fun exchange with one of Grace’s college professors. Grace’s crazy fortunetelling friend Selena is a colorful character. You do feel for Julian when you learn about his painful history. If you want a romantic easy read then this is for you. I enjoyed it but will not be reading it again. 3 stars
