Review: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

The second installment in this very addictive series features our heroine Katniss Everdeen returned from her victory in The Hunger Games. While she managed to keep herself and lovable Peeta Mallark alive through an act of defiance to the capitol, many questions remain unanswered. Katniss is uneasy and with good reason. She gets an unwelcome visit from evil President Snow and her fears are confirmed.

Apparently a spark has been lit in the country and Panem is on the verge of rebellion. Katniss has come to symbolize the rebellion itself because she dared to defy the capitol. The 75th anniversary of the Games is upon them: a sure set up for something huge to happen. Aside from all this there’s the question of the love triangle. Who does she love, Peeta or Gale? Poor girl has to choose between 2 good boys. I’ll admit I did get a bit irritated with her at times, but the girl has a lot on her plate.

I am loving this series more and more. It has it all. Action, political strife and a very interesting love triangle. Who can resist? There was one part where I honest to goodness dropped the book. Its full of twists and turns. Let the countdown to Mockingjay begin. A must read for teens and adults alike. 4 1/2 stars.
