Review: Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

Anyone born after the Shift can see ghosts. No one knows how or why.
Aura is your normal everyday teenager, who can see ghosts. She hangs out with her boyfriend, Logan, and his band. She goes to school. She works for her aunt's law firm translating for the ghosts that adults cannot see.
When tragedy strikes, Aura has to figure out where her loyalties lie: with the dead or the living. And with the help of her new friend, Zachary, Aura wants to find out why the Shift happened and how to stop it.
This is Smith-Ready's first YA novel. She has adult novels in the fantasy/urban fantasy/romance genre.
I give this book a solid 4 stars. The characters are believable and likable. There is a bit of a mystery to keep you pulled in and question everything. And this book doesn't answer anything. It left me in anticipation for the second book in the series, which will be out in 2011.
