The Day the Falls Stood Still by Cathy Marie Buchanan
This mesmerizing love story is set in 1915 in Niagara Falls. Bess Heath is the youngest daughter to the Director of the Niagara Power Company and has just graduated from boarding school. Everything seems perfect in her life until nothing really is. Her father loses his job, her sister loses her fiance and Bess meets and falls in love with a man that she should never be with.
Bess struggles with the changes in her life and with helping her sister overcome own personal loss. She agrees to marry the wealthy brother of a friend but can't seem to shake the thoughts of Tom Cole, the man who she truly loves.
I was completely taken by this novel and couldn't wait to get back to it. The Day the Falls Stood Still gets 4.5 out of 5 stars
